Climb down to Rotonda Beach: pale sand waits beneath the cliff, and Grandpa's final note hides among the caves on the left.

At last, sailor, your toes are in the sand! Rotonda Beach is one of Tropea's best-loved shores: a crescent of pale, almost white sand at the foot of the great cliff where the old town perches, lapped by water so clear you can watch your shadow dance on the seabed. Look to your right and you'll know it instantly: the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola, clinging to its rocky islet, watches over the bay like a sentinel of stone. That very church, suspended between sky and sea, is the place the legend calls "where the sea kisses the church." Now turn left: there the coast opens into small sea caves, carved by the waves over centuries, cool and shaded, perfect for hiding a secret. Elena slips a trembling hand inside and finds the last page of Grandpa's diary, damp with salt yet still readable: the Silver Lantern is not to be taken, it is to be rekindled. A true explorer's curiosity: fishermen used to say that on certain summer evenings, when the sun sets right behind the islet, the light bounces off the water as if someone had truly lit a flame up there. To reach the beach take the stairways that descend from the old town; the best time is early morning or the golden hour at sunset, when the crowds thin and the sea turns to mirror. Fill your eyes: only the final step remains.
